Hawks Roll to Third Straight Victory

MORGANTOWN – Someone must have missed the extra point.

Oh wait, the University BASEBALL team was playing on Tuesday night at Shilling Field.

The Hawks (4-2) racked up a football-like score with a 20-2 five-inning victory over visiting Grafton. In true football fashion, it was sophomore Noah Braham who led the way with a 2-for-3 performance that included a mammoth home run and four RBI.

UHS scored three runs in the first, eight in the second and third with one more in the fourth.

Seth Coombs collected three hits in the contest with two RBI while Aaron Forbes slugged a pair of doubles. Chase Edwards tacked on a double of his own while Spencer Palmer added a triple as the Hawks collected 12 hits in the contest. Casey Smith and Connor McDonough each added a single with two RBI, while Cam Musgrave added a single. Drew Herter collected two RBI and Max Parow also had one RBI.

Gabe Jansen (1-0) picked up the win on the mound as he walked three, scattered three hits and struck out two batters in three innings. Dylan Henry pitched the final two innings with two hits allowed and three strikeouts.

University has now won three straight contests and returns to action on Friday when it hosts Brooke for an Ohio Valley Athletic Conference contest at 5 p.m.
